Epic adventures across America

The trip home begins, 5:30 am. The car was packed to the max so we put some of Pam's boxes on the trunk and Pam spotted them from behind as I drove. We didn't make it too far before we decided just to put them in storage until she retrurns in the spring.

hour 3, stretch break already.

Isn't she adorable? Looking at this definitely livened up the trip.

Historic landmark & rest area in one stop, SCORE. Notice we are wearing our matching vests, Leadership School staff gifts '09.

replica fort & rest area, can you believe it?

Got into Kirtland after dark but still wanting to sight see..and of course Pam carols wherever she goes.

N.K Whitney store, neat to be there but as you may be able to tell I am still creeped out in the dark.
She makes roadtripping fun, non stop stories.
Getting roadtrip food at the grocery store & having a giant eagle contest.
You be the judge. Keep in mind, there were also screeching sounds.
Early departure in order to get to Chicago for church. As we were driving, looked in my mirror and was baffled at the beauty of the sun floating up like a hot air balloon. I asked Pam to try & capture the beauty with my camera. She quickly responded and did what was most logical, seeing that we had a car FULL of stuff. She opened the sunroof, while I was going 70 MPH, and popped up to take a picture. She soon retreated with frazzled hair and this photo.

We found this strange, hard, growth while taking a walk. Any ideas as to what it is?

Taking pictures of cool things in the World's Largest Truckstop; while I was talking to Larisa & a tucker was eyeing Pam from afar.
I know you are scared.
It's true.

Next day=Epic.
Scared deer.
video
Stopped at a barn of a gas station.

In my life, there is always time to swing

Took a quick, rejuvenating nap.

Lived the good life in Nebraska & crossed the Mormon bridge.

Enjoyed Winter Quarters.

Pam & her ancestor.

Remembrance.

Discovered that Pam & I have very different strategies for luring in dinosaurs.
I gently & excitedly feed them.

She ATTACKS.

She is most successful in the end.

The theme for the next segment of the trip:

We thought we would get through this trip snow free.

This is how I feel about traveling in snow.
Slick, black ice, heavy winds, blowing snow, and then throw in some large, large, vehicles.;one of my biggest fears.
There was quit an epic experience between the previous photo and the next. Maybe I can share the story with you if we go on a road trip together in the future.
In a motel in Laramie, WY , soaking my feet to thaw them out from the aforementioned epic experience.
Next adventure will most likely be backpacking across Laramie to retrieve my car from the mechanic. You know my feeling about mechanics, but more importantly you know my feeling about backpacking. Wahoo!!
Update on our backpacking adventure & the remainder of our travels to come.

Ben called today pretending to be some strange person and creep me out [refer to previous post on my phone mishap]. The screen on the inside of my phone is still WHITE but the outside screen does work; the absorption by rice is working. Luckily I could just laughed at him rather than be creeped.

in a puddle

Lost my phone last night,
later found it in a puddle.
Put it in a bag of rice,
in hopes of restoration.
Now it now turns on,
but the screen is if I am in a snowstorm,
WHITE.
If you leave a message or text,
there will be no response.
If you happen to call when I have it on,
I won't know who is calling but I will be happy
to talk to you.
Sadly, the only number I know is mom's.
If you want to talk to me please email me at
eliselindsey2000@yahoo.com (I know I need to switch to gmail),
and leave me your numer too please.
For now, I'll enjoy the phone snow storm... another reason to listen to winter song.

Fattest squirrel I've ever seen hanging on to the edge of our kitchen dumpster.

The latest

Went on a Sunday afternoon walk on a warm November day, simply lovely.

Ideal view, and apparently an ideal napping spot according to Pam.

We are buds, haven't you heard.

Sometimes Megan and I like to see how big of trees we can lift.

REALLY going to miss this view & this place.

Please take note of a few things in this picture.:
Pam about to jump off that platform,
the cool rock holds shaped like internal organs,
safety first,
my fave pink yoga pants,
and the coolest backyard playland ever.

Work today. That is the look that means "I am up to no good".

2.35 seconds later.
No, the leaves are not as cushiony as they seem.
Yes, this did result in a belly flop.

While working yesterday, we were assigned to haul off the trees that had been chopped down on our property. As I carried the logs, I couldn't help but think about the summer 11 years ago that mom & dad thought logging in Burgdorf would be a good idea to build character. Haha. I don't know if character was built but I do know that David did build some very nice log furniture. I think the day has finally come that I appreciate that summer.

We also had a meeting about the growth of the company and I had the reassurance of what an amazing organization I work for. It will be really hard getting another job after this because I cannot imagine many employers treating me this well. So blessed, so blessed.

B is for Boston

Spent the Halloween weekend in Boston, still my favorite city. This trip was quite different than the one last year with Marae but it was exceptional nonetheless.
It has to go down as my favorite Halloween yet, unbelievable I know. Surpassing jeopardizing our state x-country meet by hornsticking with Paige as well as the Halloween party Ben threw for me in our Valley View Drive garage.

It started with a scare as we pulled into our hotel parking lot and saw an inmate aimlessly wandering around, Oliver quickly reminded me it was Halloween.
We did lots of navigating, some sightseeing, church attending, and of course partying.

We met up with Pam's Great Uncle Bob, he was an excellent tour guide.
Not the greatest driver,
but an intelligent tour guide.

Where the first flag flew, across from the Battle Green in Lexington.

At the battle green, yes he was just hanging out.

Minuteman.

Old North Bridge. Concord, MA

A wife watched the battle at Concord from the upper window. She etched her interpretation in the window with her diamond ring.

I really just loved driving around, looking at all the old houses and beautiful trees. I especially love when there are small pumpkins or gourds placed on the outer door frame, shown in the picture below.

On Halloween night we went to the Masquerade ball at the Harvard Club. It was phenomenal and beautiful all at the same time. Hundreds of young single adults having a great time. We didn't officially have tickets to get in but Pam's flirting skills took care of that;)

After spending forever driving around looking for the ball, Oliver reminded me that his body cannot simply run on snacks. We took care of that real soon.
Pam & Oliver danced the night away.
As for me, I'd rather people watch & that I did. I really should write a book on my people watching observations.

Sunday at the Great Salt Bay
